Nano ET

This is a compact diagnostic interface designed for modern vehicles equipped with an OBD-II connector. It supports the modern DoIP protocol, CAN 2.0, and the K-Line.

Models to which Nano ET MUST NOT be connected

  • RENAULT, TOYOTA (before 2010), FORD, OPEL, CHEVROLET, FIAT, ISUZU;
Warning! It is strictly forbidden to connect the Nano ET to vehicles where the CAN bus is located on pins
12-13 and 3-11 of the OBD-II connector. These pins are used for Ethernet, which will cause a short circuit of the CAN bus. This will not damage the vehicle's electronics, but it can lead to unpleasant consequences, such as logging numerous error codes or key desynchronization.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is Nano ET different from ELM327 interfaces?
  • Three communication interfaces — WLAN, Bluetooth (BLE) and USB-C. A typical ELM327 adapter supports only one of them;
  • Two exchange protocols — ELM327 v2.3 and J2534 PassThru. ELM327 adapters only work via the ELM327 protocol;
  • DoIP support — diagnostics and flashing via Ethernet (DoIP) for modern vehicles. Standard ELM327 adapters lack this;
  • Optimized for permanent in-vehicle use — in sleep mode consumption is only 2 mA, instant wake-up when the engine starts.
Can Nano ET be used with multiple vehicles?
Yes. Nano ET is not tied to a specific vehicle. You can move it between cars or purchase multiple devices — the software supports multi-device licensing and can be installed on multiple phones or computers simultaneously.
Is an internet connection required?
No. Nano ET connects to your phone or computer directly via WLAN, Bluetooth or USB-C. No internet is required for connection or diagnostics. It may only be needed for software updates or sending error reports.
Can Nano ET be left in the vehicle permanently?
Yes, that is exactly what it was designed for. Nano ET automatically enters sleep mode with minimal power consumption when the vehicle is not in use and wakes up instantly when the engine starts. Its compact form factor allows it to remain plugged into the OBD port without interfering with driving.
Does Nano ET work with electric and hybrid vehicles?
Yes. Nano ET supports electric and hybrid vehicles equipped with an OBD-II port — including Hyundai IONIQ 5, IONIQ Electric, Kona Electric, Kia EV6, Niro EV, Soul EV and other models from the supported list. Diagnostics of the high-voltage battery, charging systems and power electronics are available.
Why can't Nano ET be connected to all vehicles?
Nano ET uses pins 3, 11 and 12, 13 of the OBD-II connector for Ethernet diagnostics (DoIP). Some vehicles (Renault, Ford, Opel, Chevrolet, Fiat, Isuzu) have a CAN bus on these same pins, which would cause a signal conflict. Nano ET can be connected to such vehicles using a special adapter that blocks lines 3/11 and 12/13 — but in this case only control units connected to the engine CAN will be accessible, and only through third-party OBD software (ELM327/J2534). In the ScanDoc software, these brands are blocked for this adapter.
Can ECU be flashed via Nano ET?
Yes. Nano ET supports the J2534 PassThru standard and DoIP protocol, enabling ECU flashing through dealer software — ODIS, Xentry, ISTA+ and other J2534-compatible programs. Flashing via DoIP (Ethernet) is significantly faster than via CAN.
Can Nano ET be resold to another person?
Yes. Nano ET is not tied to an owner. You can freely transfer or sell the device — the new owner simply needs to install the software and connect.
What is the Bluetooth range?
Up to 10 meters in line of sight, but in practice the range is often greater. The actual range depends on external conditions: obstacles, interference from other devices and the surrounding environment. For permanent in-vehicle use, the Bluetooth signal strength can be software-limited so that Nano ET is only reachable inside the cabin.
Can Nano ET be used while driving?
Yes. Nano ET is certified according to the ECE standard, which permits its use in a vehicle while driving in Europe. The device is also certified for use in Japan and America.
